Melanie Newman is the founder of Melanie Newman Salon Essentials and co-founder of Mastergroom Australia, the premier Australian grooming competition.
Recognized as a Mastergroom in 2008, Mel is the only Australian to have won best in show in Europe, an accolade that is a highlight of her professional career, having competed all over the world at the highest level competing with Bichon’s, Poodles, and Welsh Terriers. Mel has proudly represented Australia as a member of Groom Team Australia throughout her career.
Mel is always active, and for the past 5 years has turned her hand to mentoring and instructing the next generation of groomers. This has seen her present across the world at various shows, and now includes helping at-home groomers with instruction on her highly popular YouTube channel melanienewmansalonessentials.
Known for her scissoring skills and ability to create art-like finishes with her technique, Mel is not your typical dual business founder, in fact, most of her days are spent honing her skills in her state-of-the-art recording studio and sharing her technique with customers, retailers, and professional groomers across the world. While Mel may be understated, her focus is anything but, launching a globally accessible live Mastergroom event in 2022, and the launch of Melanie Newman Salon Essentials Products into the US are two of many exciting dreams Mel is realizing with the support of her team and Dash the Bichon, who is the only true Boss in this story.
