Dog Hemostats

Routine ear cleaning for dogs is always a necessity, but sometimes the care needed goes beyond just cleaning. Hemostats are a tool used in taking care of a dog’s ears by allowing a groomer or owner to safely and easily remove hair from inside a dog’s ears that may be causing buildup or making cleaning less effective. When a dog’s ear canal is blocked by excess hair growth, dog hemostats—in combination with ear powder—are the ideal tool to use for removing that extra hair. The powder allows for a firm grip and the hemostats, which are basically a giant pair of tweezers that look like scissors, grip and pluck the hair. This plucking does not hurt or cause irritation of the delicate skin of the ear canal, meaning you don’t have to worry about bleeding or infection on the plucked skin. These tools come in a few different sizes and can be either curved or straight, based on the ergonomic needs of the animal.
