Pros: Very heavy duty, easy to hold, quite sharp, durable, locking handle
Cons: Too big for small, very overgrown dewclaws
Review: I've been grooming dogs for over 10 years and this is absolutely my favorite nail trimmers for medium, large and XL dogs. I groom 4-5 dogs per day and I replace these about every 3 years. The handle may look slippery, but it really isn't. It's a hard plastic, but still comfortable to hold. Easy to Sharpie your name or initials on them so other's in the shop don't get confused.I sanitize my nail clippers as needed, about every week. Then I lubricate the moving parts with blade oil to prevent rust. I always lock themwhen not in use, because this prolongs their life. The thumb lock is much faster and easier to use than the hinge on the bottom of other clippers. The sharp blades are great on everything from thick black nails, to soft white nails; as well as for rounding thesharp edges of the nail. With these nail trimmers, I can achieve a smooth, dremel-like nail on dogs that are afraid of the dremel or nail file. The only nails this does NOT work well for are cat nails, and small nails that have curved into the pad :( These large clippers won't fit between the pad and the nail. Buy smaller clippers for those. Use these for everything else. Be forewarned: ifyou get these sharpened, they will never be the same. Don't waste your money. Instead buy another pair. You won't regret it.
