PetEdge is proud to sponsor Rescue Roundup competitions at Grooming Competitions Throughout The Country.
The intention is to recognize the groomers’ ability to use their professional expertise and skill to make-over animal shelter dogs. The goal is for these stylists to enhance the dog’s adoptability and their chance at finding forever homes.
RESCUE ROUND-UP RULES
ELIGIBILITY: Open to all groomers who are able to handle any kind of dog that might not be 100% cooperative and probably in dire need of grooming, bathing and TLC.
PROCEDURES
- Competitor will draw a number for a dog supplied by a local rescue group.
- Each dog will have been evaluated to determine if the dog is suitable for the competition environment.
- Dogs may be purebred or mixed breeds
- Groomers must be willing to show their skill for every aspect of the grooming process, including bathing and drying.
TIME FRAME: 2 ½ hours for all dogs
JUDGING CONSIDERATIONS
- Suitability of groom to enhance dog’s personality and improve conformation
- Grooming techniques that ensure the best outcome for the dog’s coat type and condition
- Overall technical finish
- Compassionate handling of dogs
- Degree of difficulty
- Change in overall appearance
